
In tennis matches on Monday and Tuesday, the girls split their matches falling 9-0 to Mayfield and winning 7-2 against Calloway County while the boys swept both of their matches – 7-2 over Mayfield and 7-2 over Calloway.
On their home court against Mayfield on Monday, four singles wins for the boys’ team came from Kiefer Court (8-0), Kian Court (8-1), Rush Robinson (8-0) and Elston Evans (8-2). Doubles match wins were notched by Court and Court (8-3), Jameson Wells and Robinson (8-5) and Alex Dinas and Evans (8-2).
Tuesday at Calloway County, wins in singles matches for the girls came from JC Wells (8-0), Courtney Phillips (8-1), Kayla Westfall (8-6), Shelby Spencer (8-2) and Laney Evans (8-0). Two doubles match wins were picked up by Wells and Phillips (8-0) and Evans and Delaney Miller (8-0). Westfall and Spencer lost their doubles match in a tie-breaker.
Four singles match wins and three in doubles led the boys’ team to a win over Calloway County. Singles wins were recorded by Wells (8-3), Robinson (8-1), Evans (8-4) and Bradley Herr (8-4). In doubles play, Court and Court continued their string of wins (8-2) along with Wells and Robinson (8-2) and Dinas and Evans (8-5).
A make-up match will be played against Graves County on May 10, then preparations will begin for regionals on May 18-22 at the Larry Heflin Courts in Lone Oak.
