Mary Elizabeth (Bettye) Pickard passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fulton, Kentucky.
Bettye was born on “December of the 10th” 1948, the 5th of 8 children born to Elizabeth and Tony Crider. She was a member of St Jude Catholic Church in Clinton, Kentucky.
Bettye graduated from Carlisle County High School. After high school, she attended Paducah School of Cosmetology and became a licensed beautician. Later in life she worked and retired from Westvaco paper Mill in Wickliffe.
Bettye was a loving person who would do anything to help those in need. One of her favorite things was to dress up as Santa Claus (so she wouldn’t spoil the magic of Christmas for little ones) and deliver clothes and toys to help others have a Merry Christmas. She would raise money from friends, family, co- workers and strangers to help others who may have fallen on hard times.
Bettye was quick to laugh, had a way with words that could turn an everyday phrase into a punchline, loved to dance, especially to Wolfman and the Pack, and loved to shop for the newest gadgets to give to others to make their lives better. The Home Shopping Network and QVC have lost one of their best customers.
Bettye is survived by her son Eric Pickard of South Fulton Tennessee; her natural and adopted grandchildren, Jadon, Jasmine, KK, Wyatt, Sophie, Ruby, Spicer and special niece Elizabeth; her siblings, Pat Musto of Lowell, Massachusetts, John Crider (Phyllis) of Indian Trail, North Carolina, David Crider of Union City, Tennessee, Charlie Crider of Milburn, Mike Crider (Nickie) of Paducah, Laurie Gilkey (Mike) of Louisville; several nieces and nephews to whom she will always be “Wild and Crazy Bettye” and numerous cousins and her constant canine companion, Pudge.
Bettye will be welcomed in Heaven by those who proceeded her including her parents, her husband Rusty Pickard, her son Adam Pickard, her brother Bob (Wolfman) Crider, her brother-in-law, Paul Musto, her sisters-in-law and by love, Jan Crider and Rickey Crider, and the whole Crider Clan.
A memorial visitation for Bettye will be held from 11:00 Am until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Arlington.
Expressions of Sympathy may be made in memory of Bettye Pickard to The Wounded Warrior Project: 223 Rosa L Parks Ave. Ste 301, Nashville, TN 37203 or to the local Humane Society of your choice.
