Tennis teams serve loss to St. Mary, boys beat Graves County

Kian Court picked up two nice wins this week in singles matches against McCracken County and Graves County.

The week began with a win over St. Mary – the girls 5-4 and the boys winning due to only two players for St. Mary. Four singles matches were won by JC Wells (8-2), Courtney Phillips (8-4), Laney Evans (8-5) and Emma Kate Whirley (8-2). JC Wells and Courtney Phillips won their doubles match 8-1.

Tuesday at Noble Park against McCracken County, the team picked up big wins by Courtney Phillips and Kian Court but the highlight of the night was a match played by middle schoolers Bradley Herr and Hunter Odom. They battled through an exciting doubles match before falling 8-7.

In their third match of the week at Graves County, the boys won 5-4 and the top match of the evening was a tough tie-breaker win by Kian Court (8-7, tie-breaker 8-6). Also picking up wins against the Eagles – Rush Robinson (8-3), Alex Dinas (9-7) and Elston Evans (8-1). Winning doubles matches – Wells/Robinson (8-3) and Dinas/Evans (8-1).

The girls fell to Graves County 2-7, the two wins coming in singles by Laney Evans (8-1) and JC Wells/Courtney Phillips (8-6) in doubles.

Regular season matches wrap up next week before Regionals.

Courtney Phillips won singles matches this week over St. Mary and McCracken County opponents and doubles matches with partner JC Wells over St. Mary and Graves County.
