Young Lady Eagles finish 13-12, Howard and Burnett among state’s best

Christian Fellowship’s Lady Eagles wrapped up their 2020-21 basketball season this past week with wins over CCA and University Heights and a loss to Lyon County. They finish 13-12 and will return the entire team next year – not one junior or senior on this season’s roster.

Following the Lady Eagles 10th win of the season on March 1st over Dawson Springs, Head Coach Trevor Jackson said, “This is the third year in a row we’ve hit double digit wins. We talked about it…we wanted to finish above .500.”

The Lady Eagles finish back-to-back seasons above .500.

Freshman Gracie Howard, who reached 1,000 career points nine games into the season, ranks 10th in the state at the end of the regular season in average points per game with 22.2. In 25 games, she scored 555 points which is sixth best in the state.

Sophomore Lillian Burnett ranks 35th in the state in average rebounds per game with 10.4. She finished with 249 total rebounds. As a team, the Lady Eagles rank 10th with an average of 37.5 rebounds per game and their 937 total rebounds is third best in the state.

In Monday’s 57-30 win over CCA, Gracie Howard led in scoring with 28 points followed by Burnett with 20. Reagan Cross led CCA with 12 points.

Gracie Howard’s 20 points and Burnett’s 13 led CFS in Tuesday’s 64-43 loss to Lyon County. Rose Smith led the Lady Lyons with 26 points and Calista Collins had 21 rebounds. Collins leads the state with 331 rebounds and a 13.8 per game average.

The Lady Eagles put up their second highest point total of the season in Thursday’s 73-53 win over University Heights. They were led by three players in double-figures – Jayden Jackson leading the way with 22 and she was 3/4 in 3-pointers. Gracie Howard scored 20 and Burnett 17. Burnett finished with 12 rebounds.
