June Powell, 87, of Benton, KY passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at her residence.
June was born on September 26, 1933 in Marshall County, KY to the late James Thaddeus and Theta Thompson Copeland. Some years later she met and married the love of her life, Howard Powell and the two of them began creating their life together.
June was the quintessential example of a homemaker and there wasn’t much that she couldn’t do. Outside of raising and caring for her family, June was also able to find the time to do canning, tend to her various vegetables and fruits throughout the garden and the orchard, help the family out with the process of making molasses, and still made sure to look after all of her flowers around the house. She also enjoyed other hobbies such as sewing, quilting, and needle work and especially loved spending her spare time reading a good book. More than anything else her kids, grandkids, and family are what meant the most to her.
June was a member of Oak Level Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Marshall County Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Brown (Louis); her son, Glenn Barton Powell (Michelle); seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Powell; her daughter, Judith Powell Pachtman; two brothers, Weldon Copeland and Robert Keith Copeland; and her parents.
