Event served residents of Graves and Marshall counties
Elizabethtown, Ky. – Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland (FAKH), in partnership with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Purchase Area Development District Food Bank (PADD) last month distributed nearly 11,000 pounds of food to 700 households in need of food assistance in Graves and Marshall counties. PADD is a Partner Distribution Organization for FAKH and covers eight counties in the Western Kentucky service area. TVA regularly supports the efforts of FAKH. Items distributed included protein, dairy and fresh produce.
“TVA has a mission of service and we strive to make life better for people in the communities we serve,” said Ernie Peterson, TVA General Manager. “We’re thankful for the opportunity to support such a worthy cause that allows us to work side by side with Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland and our local power companies like Benton Electric System, Mayfield Electric & Water Systems and West KY RECC.”
These food distribution events were two of several TVA supports throughout the year. With the TVA/FAKH partnership more than 800,000 meals have been provided to those in need. And in addition to supplying volunteers at each of the food distribution events, TVA also participates in local initiatives that address hardships faced by families in their service area.
“Through the combined efforts of TVA, FAKH and PADD we were able to provide assistance to hundreds of households dealing with food insecurity,” said Jamie Sizemore, FAKH Executive Director. “PADD is a welcome partner in our food distribution efforts and TVA continues to be an exceptional corporate sponsor in the fight to end hunger in our 42-county service area.”
