Londal York, 94

Mr. Londal M. York, 94 of Benton, KY passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY.

Born Wednesday, June 30, 1926 in Benton, KY, he was the son of the late Henry York and the late Ida Bell (Turner) York.

He honorably served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was stationed with the Army’s 11th Airborne Division in the European Theater. After his service he began his career with Pittsburgh Metallurgical plant, later becoming SKW Alloys in Calvert City, he retired after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Hamlet Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was a 50-year member of the Briensburg-T.L. Jefferson Masonic Lodge #401 F. & A.M.

Surviving are sons, Russell York, wife Katana of Benton, KY and Randy York, wife Tammie of Benton, KY; grandchildren, Nickie Carter, husband Aaron, Kyle York, wife Marissa, Krystal Jones, Kyle Sirls, Michelle McNeely, husband Jimmy, Donald Sirls, wife Tammie, and Mitchell Sirls. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Mary Elizabeth (Downing) York, brothers, Ones “Red” York, Joe York and Chester York, and sisters, Eulene Sloan and Laudine Harmon and grandson, Jared Pritchett.

Due to the current mandate by Governor Beshear effective November 20, 2020, all funeral services, visitations, memorial services, and graveside services are required to be private.

The service will be available for viewing after 12:55 p.m. Bro. Johnny Coffenberry and Bro. Glen Cope will officiate. Mr. York’s interment will be held in the Hamlet Cemetery.
