Charles Eugene Starks, age 83 of Benton, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Charles was born on November 17, 1936 to the late Toy and Bertha Emmons Starks. He was a licensed auctioneer and was a retired cement finisher. Charlie was a hard worker and was proud of the results of his labor.
Charles was passionate about baseball and used this passion to be a mentor and coach for many little league baseball teams. He was a St Louis Cardinals fan and grew to admire fast pitch softball. His greatest pleasure was following his grandchildren to any of their many sporting events, always as their biggest fan.
In his earlier years, Charles enjoyed hunting, especially deer and rabbit, and riding horses. He was a long time member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ.
He will be remembered as someone with the unique blend of being able to tell you exactly what he thought, while also being easy going. He was a hard worker who would do just about anything for anyone who asked. He had a heart of gold and the ability to be accidentally funny. He was compassionate and dedicated, a hard worker, and was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 61years, Donna Ann Dowdy Starks; his daughters, Charlotte Dismore and Leshia Smith, husband Damon; his son, Kenneth Starks; one brother, Paul Starks, wife Paula all of Benton; one sister-in-law, Ruby Lee Starks; eight grandchildren, Gina Cone (Luke), Lacy Cleaver, Chaney Starks Graham (Ryan), Taylor Starks, Travis Starks, Emma Smith, Laney Smith, Harper Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Joseph Cone, Bella Cleaver, Millie Cone, Samson Nelson and Everette Graham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Starks.
