Marshals win third straight over Hopkinsville

At the Stadium of Champions in Christian County, the Marshals picked up their third straight shut out in four days in a 6-0 win over the Hopkinsville Tigers. The game was the season-opener for Hopkinsville and the Marshals spoiled their 2020 debut.

They took a 2-0 lead at halftime on goals from Tyler Treas, assisted by Nick Mighell and William Lynch who scored his fourth goal of the season.

Four second half goals came from Lynch on an assist from Treas. Treas scored goal number four and the final two goals came from Kian Court on an assist from Collin Riley and Rush Robinson found the net in the final seconds for the 6-0 win.

The Marshals dominated play, taking 35 shots to four for Hopkinsville. They had 15 shots on goal and held the Tigers to just one. Hopkinsville keeper Zach Moss recorded 10 saves and the Marshals Ben Burkeen had one save to record his third shut out in three games.

Head Coach Bryan Blevins was happy with the individual effort of his players in the first road match that he said, “started slow but they quickly figured it out” and added it was a “good team effort and good team win”.

They will be back in action on Saturday morning at Colburn Stadium in a 9:30 a.m. game against John Hardin from the Fifth Region. It will be the Bulldogs first game of the 2020 season.
