Traffic stop results in arrest of Benton man

On July 2nd 2020 at approximately 7:38 P.M. Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford truck on Spruce Street for a traffic violation.

Upon stopping the vehicle Deputies identified the operator as Matthew Sharp. Deputies observed three small children inside the vehicle who weren’t wearing seat belts or in booster seats. Upon further investigation and a search of the vehicle Deputies located Methamphetamine, Heroin, Suboxone pills, and syringes.

Matthew Sharp was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail. The children were released to a family member.

o Failure to wear seatbelts
o Booster seat violations
o Drug paraphernalia buy or possess
o Possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree – drug unspecified
o Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (Methamphetamine)
o Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (Heroin)
