Richard Faulkner, 77, of Gilbertsville, KY passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday , April 9, 2020 at his residence.
Richard was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 23, 1943 to the late Arthur and Frances Lemos Faulkner. Richard was a decorated combat veteran of the US Army serving in MAAG Vietnam 1962 to 1963, receiving a Bronze Star award for valor from Gen Westmoreland. He studied Aviation Avionics at American Flyers in Ardmore OK, were he received his instrumental and multi engine pilot ratings. A true Jack of all trades-though master of none, he owned several successful restaurants and hotels throughout New England, became a long-haul truck driver for Mayflower among other small business ventures. Richard was also an Mariner who served on various Maritime Platforms in the Northern Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, captain of a commercial fishing vessel and a avid sailor who enjoying being on the ocean with his family as friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Faulkner of Somerset, MA, Beth Cooper of Magnolia, MS, and Sara Faulkner of Murray, KY; two sons, Richard Faulkner, Jr. of Newnam, GA and Jon Faulkner of Gainsville, VA; one sister, Frances White of Stewart, FL; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Faulkner.
In compliance with health and public safety directives, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
