Lady Eagles 11 wins, most in over two decades

Renee Shields has scored in double figures in the Lady Eagles last four games. She led the team in scoring in their loss to Mayfield and win over Carroll Academy last week.

The CFS Lady Eagles won two of their three games played last week, starting out with a 53-27 loss to Mayfield but followed that up with two wins, 71-27 over Carroll Academy and 62-56 over Community Christian Academy. They improve to 11-11, topping last year’s 10 wins, now having possibly their best season in program history, at least dating back more than two decades.

In the last three games combined, eighth grader Gracie Howard has led with 45 points followed closely by freshman Renee Shields with 42 points. Howard has led CFS on the boards over the last three games with a total of 27 rebounds.

Against Mayfield on Jan. 25, Shields led with 10 points in the 53-27 loss. The Lady Eagles struggled from the floor shooting 25 percent while the Lady Cardinals shot 24 of 47 for just over 50 percent. Desiree Thomas led Mayfield with 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Eagles were back in the win column with a 71-27 win over Carroll Academy (Huntingdon, Tenn.) last Thursday. Shields and Howard both led with 15 points each and both were 7/10 from the floor. Also in double figures in the win, Jayden Jackson had 14 points and Lillian Burnett finished with 10.

After a 50-47 loss to CCA on Jan. 3, the Lady Eagles turned the tables and took the win over the Lady Warriors 62-56 on Saturday. Howard led with 23 points followed by Shields with 17 and Burnett with 10. Howard was 7/15, hit 7/9 at the free throw line and had 11 rebounds.
