CFS wins seven straight to improve to 14-7, best in over 23 years

CFS senior Mikey Bivin, in a game earlier in January, was one of the Eagles leading scorers with 18 points in their come-from-behind 60-53 win over Fulton City.

Christian Fellowship may be in the midst of the programs best season ever, at least the best in more than 23 years at 14-7 and their current seven-game win streak is also the best in as many years. Three home games last week produced three more wins starting with a 60-53 Homecoming win over Fulton City on Saturday, Jan. 25. On Thursday they defeated Carroll Academy, Tenn. 75-32 and Saturday beat Community Christian Academy 64-36.

CFS finished the 2017-2018 season with a 13-15 record behind a class of nine seniors in a year Head Coach Tyler Ryan said, “The goal is to bring a competitive program back to CFS.” After a bit of a rebuilding year last season when the Eagles finished 7-21, they are right back where Ryan knows the program can be which goes back to something he said at the end of that 2017-18 season – “They know lasting success won’t happen overnight but they are trusting the process” – and that process is paying off.

Starting with their 60-53 win over Fulton City, Andrew Dunning led CFS with 20 points, going 8/15 and was 4/5 in free throws. Mikey Bivin scored 18 for the Eagles and nine points each came from Andrew Allen and Ari Phillips. CFS was down 29-25 at halftime and still trailed by two at the end of the third. They out-scored Fulton City 22-13 in the fourth quarter to win by seven.

The Eagles led 18-4 at the end of the first quarter and their big 46-12 halftime lead too much for Carroll Academy to keep up with.
