Barely a week after he was abruptly terminated as Marshall County Emergency Management Director, Curt Curtner is clarifying he has accepted a volunteer position with Graves County’s Emergency Management Agency.  He said he will work with Graves County’s Director Tracy Warner to assist in any way he can in a non-paid capacity.

Curtner was terminated from his position last week by Marshall County Judge Executive Kevin Neal.  Neal’s office released a statement after the firing saying, ” The Emergency Management Director is an appointed position that serves at the pleasure of the County Judge Executive pursuant to KRS 39B.020.”

The release also stated, ““Public safety in Marshall County continues to be of utmost importance for my administration. As advancements in emergency response progress and requirements for more policy implementation becomes necessary to protect our community, we have identified a need for a full time commitment to the Emergency Management department. It is our commitment to always make the safety of our citizens a priority.”

Marshall County posted the position for Curtner’s replacement on their Facebook page the day after he was terminated.  The deadline for applications for the job is today.
