Doris McConnell, 92

Doris Jean “Dot” McConnell, age 92, of Princeton, passed into the arms of Jesus Monday, January 27, 2020. She was a member at First Baptist Church of Princeton.

Dot was a drum majorette at Butler High and a vocalist for various bands during the war in the 1940’s. In 1946, She married the love of her life and soon after became a career Navy wife. She was active in her church and choir member, often serving as choir leader. Dot was a Gray Lady, a hospital volunteer, award winning artist as well as Bowler (most improved). She was an avid card player, gracious host and loved making bracelets for all. Dot was a 2019 Black Patch Co-Grand Marshall. But most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all.

Dot is survived by her son, Fred McConnell and wife Diana of Princeton; grandson, Fredrick McConnell and wife Tabitha, and their two children, Lydia and Matthew of McKinney, Texas; two granddaughters, Rebecca McConnell Loiacano and husband Scott and their two sons, Scotty and Joseph of Ft. Meyers, Florida and Catherine McConnell Yackenovich and husband Jeremiah and their son William of Spotsylvania, Virgina; one niece, Glennda Bright Harralson and husband Grayson Lee Harralson of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and their three children, Jefferson, Rachel and Cherry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred McConnell and their daughter Patricia Anne McConnell; her parents, Gordon Bright and Corzie Woodall Bright and one brother, Glenn Bright.

Visitation will be held, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Morgan’s Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Morgan’s Funeral Home at 2:30 pm with Bro. Dane Hodges officiating. Burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
