Calvert City Elementary 5th grade students use STEM to create arcade games

Calvert City Elementary students have fun trying out arcade-type games made out of cardboard and recyclables. This is the first year CCES has a STEM Lab as a “specials class” in conjunction with the computer lab.

Calvert City Elementary fifth grade students have been working on a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) project since early November, using an Engineering Design Process to design and build a working arcade-type game out of cardboard and other recyclables.

The students worked in small groups and researched arcade game options and narrowed down their choice. They built and tested projects for over two months and then showed them off and let the students of CCES try out the games.

Younger students and staff seemed to really enjoy the games and were quite impressed with what the fifth graders built with cardboard.
