
The Lady Marshals played four games this week in the Russellville Food Bank Classic and kicked it off on Thursday with a 57-11 win over Todd County Central. They followed that up with a 67-59 win over Hart County and a 63-49 win over Grayson County on Saturday to advance to the tournament championship Sunday against #4 Madisonville. The Lady Maroons took the championship over the Lady Marshals by a final score of 61-49.
Against Todd County on Thursday, the Lady Marshals took command of the game early with a 20-2 first quarter lead and led 42-4 at halftime, holding the Lady Rebels to seven second half points in the win.

In their second game of the Food Bank Classic, Marshall County played Hart County Saturday morning and behind a 33-point game from Halle Langhi, the Lady Marshals won 67-59 to advance to the final four of the tournament against Grayson County Saturday night. Grayson County defeated Logan County, 61-59, to advance to the semi-finals. Madisonville and North Hopkins rounded out the four remaining teams in the field of 16.
The game was tied 16-16 at the end of the first quarter and the Lady Marshals pushed it out to a six point lead at 35-29 going into the half. They out-scored Hart County by two points in the second half to win by eight. The Lady Raiders were led by Haley Sturgeon with 23 points.

Led by Langhi and Layne Pea with 17 points each, the Lady Marshals defeated Grayson County 63-49 Saturday evening to advance to the Russellville Food Bank Classic championship game against Madisonville. The Lady Maroons beat Russellville 68-25 in the first game to advance to the tournament championship.
The Lady Marshals led 5-0 before Grayson County got on the board with a free throw and their 10-1 lead vanished on an 7-0 run by the Lady Cougars, but they held the lead at 16-13 to end the first quarter.
A basket by Langhi and free throw from Cayson Conner stretched the lead to 19-13, cut quickly again on Bailey Snyder’s second three of the game. Marshall County finished out the half, out-scoring Grayson County 16-8 to lead 34-24 behind 13 first half points from Layne Pea and eight by Langhi.
Langhi scored six of the Lady Marshals 11 third quarter points while Grayson County out-scored them 16-11 to cut the lead to five going into the fourth quarter. They opened the quarter on an 11-0 run that extended the lead to 56-40, holding Grayson County to nine points on their way to win 63-49.

Facing an undefeated Madisonville team in the championship on Sunday, the Lady Marshals fell behind 6-0 after Courtney Peyton’s two 3-pointers opened the scoring for the Lady Maroons. Madisonville jumped out to a 17-3 lead before the Lady Marshals fired off 16 straight points to lead 19-17 in the second quarter.
Madisonville scored the next eight straight to go back up by six points, the run ending on a basket by Conner and they trailed 27-21 at halftime. Madisonville out-scored the Lady Marshals 21-14 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 48-35 at the end of the third.
With just over a minute remaining in the game, Madisonville’s lead was 57-45 following a basket by Presley Jezik. On the following play, a steal by the Lady Marshals led to a foul on Jezik whose free throws cut the Lady Maroons lead to 10 points but with trips to the line in the closing seconds, Madisonville took the tournament championship 61-49.
Conner led with 16 points and Jade Driver followed with 12. Madisonville was led by Courtney Peyton with 20 and 16 from Camryn LaGrange. Conner and Langhi were selected to the Food Bank Classic All-Tournament Team. LaGrange, Courtney Peyton and Lindsey Peyton were selected to the All-Tournament Team from Madisonville.

The tournament collected non-perishable food items for Logan County food banks, with all 16 teams competing to see who could collect the most. According to WCBL’s Jeff Waters, a total of 3,091 pounds were collected which was almost 100 pounds more than their goal. Fort Campbell’s Lady Falcons team collected the most, at 900 pounds.
