
Four Marshals were in double-figures in Tuesday’s win over Carlisle County – Zion Harmon led with 21 points, Tyler Stokes had 15, Bryce Flatt 13 and Tyler Powell 11 in the 68-48 win over the Comets. Reese Anderson, senior guard for Carlisle County, led the Comets in scoring with 19 points.
Carlisle County came into Reed Conder Gymnasium 2-1 with wins over Paducah Tilghman and Community Christian and they kept the game tight through the beginning of the second quarter. Tied 6-6 in the first quarter, Stokes and Powell put the Marshals up 10-6, but the lead was cut back to two-points on a basket by Blake Elder. Free throws and a basket by Stokes stretched the lead back to six before a three from Anderson cut that lead in half to end the first quarter.

Elder’s basket to open the second quarter cut the Marshals lead to one at 16-15 but from there, the Marshals out-scored Carlisle County 19-6. Harmon scored eight in the second quarter, Powell four and a basket each from Flatt and Jay Nimmo for a 35-21 halftime lead.
With a renewed level of energy in the second half, the Marshals began to stretch their lead, starting with free throws from Harmon, four straight points from Flatt, technical free throws from Harmon followed up by a 3-pointer and a couple of baskets from Stokes to go up 51-34.
The fourth quarter opened on five straight points from Flatt that put the Marshals up by 20. Anderson, Elder and Chase Teasley continued to find the basket for Carlisle County but the Marshals answered on five points from Harmon and baskets by Dawson Smothers, Powell and a three to end the game by Carson Ives.
The Marshals improve to 2-2 and will play McCracken County at home on Friday before heading to Memphis on Saturday to play Briarcrest Christian who beat Male 78-70 in overtime at Saturday’s Hoopfest.
