Paducah, KY—Milner & Orr Funeral Home hosted its 23 rd annual Holiday Service of Remembrance on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Paducah.
The cold outside was a contrast to the warmth felt inside First Christian Church on Saturday evening. This event brought grieving families and friends together to honor their loved ones at this special time of year. The service also provided a place to learn helpful ways to incorporate that special loved one into the many family holiday traditions through words of encouragement given by Pat Pitchford Page. This
was a community wide service that included a candlelight memorial and video presentation as well as beautiful music sung and played by Laura and Shawn Fagin. Prayers were lifted for peace and comfort this holiday season.
Mary Beth Orr said, “We want to start the holiday season by providing hope for those who are grieving a loss whether this is the first season families are missing a loved one or if many years have passed, this is a particularly difficult time of year.”
The remembrance service was open to all families in our area who have experienced a loss at any time whether services were held at Milner & Orr Funeral Home or elsewhere. There was no admission and all attendees received an evergreen sapling to plant representing “Hope Grows.” About 400 people attended this year.
“This service is intended to offer comfort and peace for anyone hurting during the holidays,” Randy Orr stated.
