Floyd Wayne Sullivan 79, of Metropolis died peacefully in his daughter’s home in Sherwood, AR on Monday, September 23, 2019.
Floyd as born and raised in Metropolis, IL. He graduated from Metropolis High School in 1958. Over the years, he along with his wife, Glenda owned Northside Market and Friends in Co as well as others. He spent his last years as Massac Co. Assessor and Treasurer.
He was married to his high school sweetheart for over 60 years. One of their favorite things to do together was take road trips all over the continental United states, but he particularly enjoyed traveling throughout the state of Arizona. While traveling, they loved to frequent flea markets, antique shops, and explore nature’s most beautiful landscapes.
Floyd and Glenda raised two children; Jeffrey Allen Sullivan (Fonda) and Stacy Lynn Sullivan (J. Kevin Sullivan). Floyd’s grandchildren include Jeffrey Alan Sullivan (Mary), Jennifer May (Travis), Meagan Edwards (David), Tracy Logan (Jason), and Racan Aqrabawi (Kellie). He also has 11 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his siblings John (Wanda) Sullivan, Roger (Ann) Sullivan, Genevieve (Wilburn) May, Neva (Joe) Hicks, Alice Shelby, Brenda (Randy) Langford, all of Metropolis IL. And Lindell (Mary) Sullivan of Hamilton, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents Coy Sullivan and Flora Johnston as well as siblings Valda Johnson, Donald Sullivan, Jane Williams and Louise Reed.
Visitation is being held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah. Graveside services will immediately follow at Antioch Baptist Church in Rosebud, IL.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Project Hope Animal Shelter.
