Richard Ashley Grana, age 48, of Santa Rosa Beach, FL passed away Sunday, September 8th, 2019. He was born on February 9, 1971 in the US Army Hospital, Wurzburg, Germany to Richard and Cheryl Peck Grana.
Ashley attended Reidland Elementary and Middle School and graduated from Oakland High School, Murfreesboro, TN class of 1989. He received his BA degree in geography with an emphasis on planning in 1994 from the University of Kentucky. While at UK, he was a member of Sigma… Alpha Epsilon fraternity and a loyal Wildcat fan. His interests included traveling, mountain bike riding, history, BMW autos , watching and attending UK football and basketball games and spending time with his family and friends.
He was of the Methodist faith having joined the church at age 18 at St. Marks United Methodist in Murfreesboro, TN.
Ashley’s twenty four year career in planning/community development for both city and county governments occurred in the state of Florida. He was employed as the Planning Manager for 18 years with the City of Destin before starting his own company, Grana Development Services LLC in 2017.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Cheryl Peck Grana of Paducah, sister Tara Grana of Nicholasville, KY, two nieces, Ashton Woody and Grace Woody, one nephew, Trey Woody , his paternal grandmother Theresa Grana of Carlsbad, CA, two aunts, Ella Trovillion of Paducah and Barbara Pitchford of Lake Placid, FL and four cousins, Chris and Gordon (Debra) Spees ,Dawn Atwood ,Andrea Atwood and Ashley Sheikh.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, NL and Clara Gordon Peck of Paducah, John Grana of Carlsbad, CA and a cousin, Mark Atwood.
Services will be held Saturday, September 14th at 12:00 noon at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Sky McCracken officiating. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at 3:30 at Brooks Chapel Gordon Cemetery, Dexter, KY.
