New 4-H Club in Marshall County

The Marshall County Extension Office has three components within their building serving our county, and one of those is 4-H.  There are several 4-H clubs within Marshall County and one of the newest is our Livestock Club!  This club is open to all students (even Homeschool) that are ages 9-18.  I sat down with Nikki Bell, the Ag and Natural Resources Agent a few days ago and she told me a little about this relatively new club.
You do not have to own livestock to be involved and join.  They have competitions for judging and quizzes in addition to showing livestock.  There are also many field trip opportunities and educational opportunities available for the Livestock Club throughout the year.  The club will start back up this Fall with meeting and starting a series to learn more for the Skillathon, which is the quiz competitions that they compete in.
The Club President, Zoey Ramey (shown below), teaches a great deal of the lessons to her peers at the meetings and competes in Dairy Goat Shows.  Over the summer she was awarded Grand Champion Jr. Nigerian Dwarf, Jr. Grand Champion Nubian, and Jr. Reserve Grand Champion Nubian at the McCracken County Fair!
If you would like more information about the Livestock Club or how to join, contact the Marshall County Extension Office at 270-527-3285.
