
The Lady Marshals played two games Saturday in the Daviess County Invitational. They defeated Muhlenburg County 7-0 in the first game and followed that with a 4-0 win over Elizabethtown.
Against Muhlenburg, the Lady Marshals led 5-0 at halftime, goals coming from Carmen Gunn with three, Chasse Clark and Janie Pagel with an assist to Kallen Fuller. Gunn scored two more goals in the second half, one on as assist by Fuller with the game cut short by 20 minutes due to heat.
The Lady Marshals took 25 shots compared to zero shots from Muhlenburg.
In their second game at Daviess County, the Lady Marshals recorded their second shut out of the day in a 4-0 win over Elizabethtown. A goal by Fuller on an assist by Whitley Watwood gave them a 1-0 halftime lead. Three second half goals came from Gunn on an assist from Watwood, Gunn again on an assist from Mia Teague and Watwood found the net for the fourth goal with the assist from Pagel.
Marshall County shots out-numbered Elizabethtown 18 to 8 and Carlen Whiley had four saves.
The Lady Marshals (4-0) will head to Graves County on Tuesday to play a double-header with the Marshals. The girl’s game starts at 5:30. Marshall County girl’s are ranked #17 in the state after week one according to maherrankings.com.
