Kentucky Prospects 12U Finish Spring 2nd in Bluegrass Bash

(Versailles, Kentucky)-The Kentucky Prospects 12U AA baseball team completed their very competitive 2019 Spring season strong on Sunday with a second place finish in the 3rd Annual Diamond Elite Bluegrass Bash. The tournament featured seven teams from Kentucky and Ohio. The Prospects started pool play with a 7-4 win over host Woodford County and then defeated the Northern Kentucky Titans 10-2 on Saturday.

During bracket play, the team first faced the Ohio-based Bulldogs of Hamilton/Fairfield, winning 7-2 to advance. For the second weekend in a row, the Prospects held their opponent in the semi-finals hitless, this time with Breyden Turnage and Landon Willis combining on the effort. The Prospects defeated the Scott County Cardinals 4-0, setting up the championship round match-up against the Kentucky Rockers from Versailles. The Rockers trailed early in the game before coming back to defeat the Prospects 12-2. The team will have a few weeks off before beginning their 13U season this fall.

The Prospects finished the Spring with a winning record of 29-22-1, capturing tournament championships in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, St. Louis, Missouri and Mayfield to go along with a final four appearance in the USSSA Global World Series in Orange Beach, Alabama. The Kentucky Prospects 12U AA team is coached by Brad Bishop, Allen Rice, Zack Nancy Hefner and Erik Wilson.
