Connie Hussey, 73

Connie Leroy Hussey, age 73, fell asleep in death after an extended illness on Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Murray, KY. He was born on February 25, 1946 in Carroll County, Illinois, son of the late Roy N. & Ruth (Petersen) Hussey. Most of his life was spent in Ellsinore, MO of Carter County at his family’s homestead until he moved to Murray, KY in 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Julia “Judy” (Wood) Hussey of Murray, KY; three sons, Charles (Donyel) & Conrad Hussey of Oak Harbor, WA, and Barry (Annette) Priest of Murray, KY; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Hussey of St. Louis, MO ; three brothers, Lloyd (Anne) Hussey of Vernon, TX, Burt Hussey of Henderson, TX, James “Jim” (Daisey) Hussey of Ellsinore, MO; seven grandchildren, Charles “Chaz” (Jacqueline) & Dalton Hussey, Hunter Khalafallah, Lyndsey Carias, Tapanga Hussey, Cameron & Juliena Priest; three great grandchildren, Aunya Hussey, Gracelynn & Adrin Carias; and extended family who remained close through the years, Pat Wood, Tim & Joe Hayes, Dale Hamilton and Lucy Bounds; as well as, many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters, Mildred “Mickey” R. Hussey-Rosenbohm, Louise Hussey-Hamilton, Lucille Hussey-Bounds, Elinor Hussey-Hayes, and three sisters who died in infancy.

Connie spoke fondly of working as a logger in Washington and Texas, and on fishing boats in Alaska. He traveled North America as a truck driver with his wife, Judy and yorkie-poo, “Moose”. He was known to be a skilled mechanic and enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors. It’s been said, “He could fix anything on wheels.” He loved his furry companions, Emmy Lou & Bouncer. He was most often seen with a dog on his chair or as many as four with him in the bed.

Connie looked forward to the time when death, mourning, outcry and pain would be no more, when no one would say “I am sick”. A time when his flesh would become fresher than in youth and he could return to the days of his youthful vigor. (Revelation 21:3-6, Isaiah 33:24, Job 33:25) He believed all those in the memorial tombs or resting places would rise on the last day. (John 11:11-44, Acts 24:15) He looked forward to seeing his parents, siblings, and friends who preceded him in death. It was his hope and desire to be resurrected in peaceful, paradise conditions here on earth. (Psalm 37:29)
