BENTON, KY – The Marshall County Veterans Support Group was presented with a check for $1000 to support their efforts in purchasing a new handicap van.
The check was presented to the group by the Calvert City VFW Post 5739 who applied for and received the community service grant for this project.
The vehicle the group currently uses to transport disabled veterans to doctor appointments is 16 years old and the cost to purchase a new vehicle that will meet the needs of the veterans is $70,000. With the addition of this grant, the Veterans Support Group has now raised a total of $7,000 to put toward their goal.
