Reta Tackett, age 105, passed away at Countryside Center in Bardwell on Monday, April 8, 2019.
Ms. Reta was born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada on August 27, 1913 to Edward and Jane Lush Coleman. She married her late husband, Henry “Stout” Tackett in Detroit, Michigan in 1947. They moved to Milburn, Kentucky where they lived for 62 years. After Henry’s death in 2001, she moved to the Maplewood Apartments in Bardwell, and later relocated to the Countryside Center where she lived… for 10 years. Reta was of the Methodist faith and a life member of the Eastern Star. She taught at the Kids 4H Club for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Bennett (Paul) of Stittsville, Ontario Canada; nephews, Bob, Wilbur, and Richard Allen Tackett; nieces, Sue Nan Hartley and Jane Lester; and many extended family members of the Coleman and Tackett families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two brothers, George Coleman and William Coleman; seven sisters, Anna Erikson, Mary Foley, Florence Turner, Sarah Gagne, Catherine Coleman, Edith Coleman, and Ruth Mroz.
Funeral services will be at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jonathan Althoff officiating. Burial will follow in Milburn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
