Mr. Joe Ben Simpson, age 80, of Paducah, formerly of Graves County, passed away on Tuesday, April 09, 2019 at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY.
He was a member of Lone Oak Church of Christ, a Kentucky Colonel, an active member of Kiwanis Club of Paducah and a retired vice president of Commonwealth Life Insurance Company. Joe Ben always had a story or a joke and used these to get people to relax, feel comfortable, and was known as the man with a tale, bringing everyone a smile. He would light up a room and turn strangers into friends.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Minnie Black Simpson; one daughter, LaAnna Jo (Jerry) Mraz of Elizabethtown, KY; three grandsons, Twayne (Amanda) Harlow, Tanner (Courtney) Harlow and Nickolas Simpson; and four great grandchildren, Tayden Harlow, Tiana Harlow, Hannah Harlow and Mollie Harlow.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Kevin Simpson; three brothers, Glynn Simpson, Paul Boyd Simpson and Walter Simpson; two great grandchildren, Thane Harlow and Torin Harlow; and his parents, Paul Cook and Mozelle Rhodes Simpson.
Funeral services for Mr. Joe Ben Simpson will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Bro. Paul Wingfield will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Mraz, Twayne Harlow, Tanner Harlow, Nickolas Simpson, John Mark Clark and Jeff Simpson.
Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the funeral home.
