Following four successful indoor meets in Southern Illinois, the Marshall County girl’s and boy’s track teams opened up the outdoor season Saturday at the Henderson Colonel Classic. The girl’s came away with first place among 13 teams and the boy’s captured second among a field of 14 teams.
The Lady Marshals took first with 92 points, one point over second place Fort Campbell with 91 and third place went to Daviess County with 85.50. Owensboro took the win on the boy’s side with 98 points followed by the Marshals in second with 82.50 and Hopkinsville third with 80.
Middle distance and field events led the girl’s team to their first place finish. Two firsts came from Tori McCracken in the high jump and Sydney Temple in pole vault. Tori Ford placed second in the 400 meters and three third place finishes came from Presleigh Jennings in both the high jump and triple jump as well as Alyssa McClain in shot put.

Discus: 4th Maci Brown (84-09), Allison Walker (79-07)
Shot: 3rd Alyssa McClain (28-10.75), 5th Emily Colley (28-03.50)
The middle and long distance events and field events look to once again be the strength of the boy’s team in adding up the points. Top finishes Saturday came from Justin Wilson who placed first in the 110 high hurdles and third in the 300 high hurdles and a third place finish by Bryce Ladd in pole vault.
