
He is survived by one brother, Charles Hoover of Oakview Nursing and Rehab, was the loving father of Brenda M. Stembridge, 48, and Mary L. Adams, 46 of Benton, KY and Sara M. Hoover, 22, proud grandfather of James Stembridge, 26 of Benton, many honorary children, great-grandfather to little Hailey May Hooper of Fairdealing and soon to be Alekzander Stembridge (due date June 2019). He was also known as PaPaw to Jasmine (Jazz) Goodman, 23 of Benton, KY, and Nick Hooper of Fairdealing, KY, a son-in-law, Stephen Adams, step-grandchildren, Beth and Sammy Adams and great-stepgrandchildren, all who call him PaPaw. Also surviving are his dearly loved nieces, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Bill will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a very, loving, patient, kind, caring soul.
He was a faithful member of East Marshall Baptist Church, Moors, KY 2001-2019 where he once taught Sunday School and loved worship singing and fellowship. He was a proud patriot and US Navy veteran of over 25 years. He traveled across on the carriers as a teacher and leader, 1950-1975, then retired to Kentucky with family and spent years working as an electrician foreman for SKW Alloys in Calvert City, KY and LWD, Calvert City, KY. He and his wife owned Hoover’s Garden Shop from 1980-1998. He enjoyed and loved family and friends, cookouts, gardening, flowers, cooking, good food, and a good game of cards and yahtzee. He was a devoted Christian husband and father and hard worker who was always helping family and friends. He had a talent at knowing and singing older Gospel music and country. He had a wholesome good life and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be dearly missed and always loved and remembered.
Visitation will be held at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019.
Graveside service with military rites will be held at Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, KY on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Bro. James Keeling officiating.
