State Rep. Danny Carroll speaks at Marshall County Rotary Club meeting

State Senator Danny Carroll was in Marshall County on Monday to address the Rotary Club at their weekly meeting.

Carroll said the work he is doing in Frankfort and the bills he is supporting is so “our kids and our grandkids aren’t faced with the problems we’re facing today.”
Tax reform could be one of the areas to help raise revenue for the state. “In the future, I think you are going to see more tax reform changes to the service-based industry. That’s where our economy is. To not do that would be irresponsible,” Carroll said.
By taxing services, he  also could foresee the commonwealth doing away with a state income tax. “This type of taxation also does away with the loopholes for the wealthy. Someone with lower income would use less of these services, someone with higher income would use more of these services,” he said.
Carroll also addressed pension reform and school safety measures in Kentucky as well as tourism and the state park system.
“The state is marketing the parks more than ever before,” he said. “We just need to make some repairs to get them back to where they can compete with private industries. I think we’re all excited about that.”
Carroll also encouraged all residents to contact him if they have any issues or will be in Frankfort during the senate session. “Also, if you have kids in school who would like to be a page on the Senate floor,” he said. “Contact me.”
