Elizabeth Katherine (McKendree) Bowerman, 87, passed away at Broadmore Senior Living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Saturday, January 12, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Bowerman was born and raised in Hardin, Kentucky and lived there until she relocated to Murfreesboro 2014. She retired from Fisher Price in Murray in 1993. Mrs. Bowerman was a life-long member of the Hardin Baptist Church and was an active member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother – family meant everything to her. As a young widow, she successfully raised four children on her own. Katherine was an avid gardener and enjoyed word puzzles. One of her favorite pastimes was cooking and preparing Sunday meals for her family – her yeasts rolls and cakes were second to none. Katherine was also a master quilt maker, crafting hundreds of beautiful handmade quilts throughout her life.
Mrs. Bowerman was preceded in death by her husband, C. T. Bowerman, who died November 8, 1968. Her parents, Brady and Vena McKendree and brothers Joe Tom McKendree, Hershel McKendree, and Bob McKendree also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bowerman is survived by four children: Pam (Jim) Booth, Jennifer (Mark) Starks, all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Rick (Susan) Bowerman of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Kerry (Jan) Bowerman of Hardin, Kentucky. She is also survived by grandsons: Dwayne (Kelly) Morton of Hardin, Kentucky, Ted Booth of Murray, Kentucky, Brien (Aon) Clark, Jacob Starks all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Keith (Melanie) Morton of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Joshua Starks of Acadia, California. Granddaughters: Talania (Scott) Reid of Hardin, Kentucky, Aimee Clark of Atlanta, Georgia, Vair Taylor of Paducah, Kentucky, and Daisha (Manny) Vargas of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Surviving sisters: Merlyine Henderson and Jerlyine (Dewey) Dick both of Hardin, Kentucky; nineteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends may call from 10:00AM until 1:00PM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home with Bro Trad York will officiate and burial will follow in the Marshall County Memory Gardens.
