Benton Police have arrested and charged a Benton man with Murder. Jonathan D. Williams (a.k.a. Danny Williams), age 53, of Benton, Ky has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Billy J. Lee, age 54, also of Benton, Ky.
Benton Police received a call on Dec. 1 at 4:46 p.m. after Lee was found deceased in the living room of his home. Foul play was suspected as evidence supported that Lee had been assaulted.
An autopsy was completed on Dec. 3 at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville. Preliminary results confirm Lee died as a result of injuries sustained from multiple blunt force trauma and emphysematous changes in the lungs.
Williams remains lodged in the Marshall County Detention Facility.
Benton Police Officer Trent Weaver, lead investigator in this case, said, “This arrest was the result of teamwork, utilizing technology, old-fashioned legwork, and cooperation between other agencies.”
Benton Police were assisted during this investigation by the Marshall County Central Dispatch, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Marshall County EMS, Benton Fire Department, Medical Examiner’s Office, EnSight Solutions, and the Marshall County Rescue Squad.
