CFS defeats Danville Christian, loses close one to Ballard Memorial

Six games into the season, the Christian Fellowship Eagles have two wins over Carroll Academy and Danville Christian, losing a close contest to Ballard Memorial 48-45.

Last week on Thursday, CFS lost at Murray 71-33, led by Ari Phillips with 14 points. Murray’s 20-4 lead at the end of the first quarter left the Eagles struggling to catch up, trailing by 20 points at halftime. Murray went on to out-score CFS 33-15  in the second half, led in scoring by Charles McCalister and Kameron Mohler with nine points each.

CFS fell 56-43 at Burgin on Friday, Nov. 30. Nathaniel Hummel led the way for the Eagles with 14 points and nine rebounds. CFS led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, before Burgin’s big 22 point second quarter put the Bulldogs up by six at halftime. Burgin out-scored the Eagles in the second half 27-20 for the win.

The Eagles finished off three straight days of game with a 54-28 win at home over Danville Christian on Dec. 1.  Ten Eagles scored in the win led by Hummel with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Tuesday, the Eagles lost a close battle with Ballard Memorial 48-45. Leading by four points at the end of the first quarter, the Bombers out-scored the Eagles by four points in the second quarter to lead by one at halftime, going on to out-score the Eagles by just two points in the second half to win by three. Hummel led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points and nine rebounds.
