Mr. Donald Harris, age 78, of Gilbertsville, KY died on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. He was retired from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation where he worked as an Engineer Technician. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, the Marshall County Ramp Ministry, and the Gideons. He previously served as Deacon for Ridegeview Baptist Church in Danville, IL and current Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Born Monday, December 11, 1939 in Danville, IL, he was the son of the late Granville Harris and the late Mary (Kinney) Harris.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Joan (Kinney) Harris of Gilbertsville, KY, daughters, Angela Goddard, husband Nigel of Indianapolis, IN, Cynthia Howe, husband Timothy of Gilbertsville, KY and Brenda Trimmel, husband Anthony of Gilbertsville, KY, brother, Darrell Harris of Avon, IL, sisters, Louise Vandament of Fishers, IN, Marlene Corbin of Catlin, IL and Marilyn LeCount of Catlin, IL; and 6 grandchildren, Olivia Goddard, Victoria Howe, Samuel Howe, Kaleb Trimmel, Brayden Trimmel, and Cody Trimmel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Willard Harris and Gene Harris, and sisters, Lillian Swearingen and Ruth Dalle.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Kim Morrison and Rev. Darrell Harris officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery, Marion, IL.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
