Kristine Elizabeth Straub, 55

Kristine “Kris” Elizabeth Straub, age 55, was born in Paducah, KY on April 10, 1963. Early Tuesday morning, September 25, 2018, she passed away at her home.

She is survived by her husband, Rick, her sons, Eric (Emma) and Jason; her sister, Pat Smith (Tom) and her sisters-in-law, Janet Burnett, Janet Peters, and Barbara Jones (Harry). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as many close friends who she considered her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, George J. Burnett, Jr.; her mother, Joy Persons Burnett; and her brothers, Jay Burnett and Lee Burnett.

Kris devoted her life to the service of others, namely, the three boys in her life, Rick, Eric, and Jason. She spent the last 31 years with her soul mate, Rick, and together they raised their two sons. Kris devoted every waking moment of her life to caring for her family. Every decision she ever made was intently calculated and thought out. She always considered the consequences of her actions and how her decision would affect her family.

Kris and Rick embodied the sanctity of marriage and provided a perfect example of the union for their boys and to everyone around them. They always worked together. Each of them thought they were the lucky one to be with the other, and they viewed each other as such for the 31 plus years they were a couple.

Kris lived by the mantra, “Why put off until tomorrow, what you could get done today?” She was kind, caring, diligent, persistent, assertive and above all else, competitive. Her outstanding efforts in booster clubs, Parent Teacher Associations, club soccer teams, Home Owners Associations and the many other various organizations she participated in will forever be remembered by those who worked with her. She was dedicated to involving herself and taking leadership roles in the activities her boys participated in to ensure that they and their friends were given opportunities to succeed. She adored having her boys’ friends over at her house, cooking for them, and organizing wiffle ball games in the backyard. The love and affection she had for all of “her kids” was reciprocal. She was highly respected and loved by her boys and all of their friends.

Kris was an athlete and a competitor her entire life. Whether it was golf, softball, football, baseball, ping pong, bowling, or a game of cards, she was playing to win. She and Rick instilled that passion for sports and competition in their two boys. Kris and Rick competed and excelled in numerous couples golf tournaments from the time they were married until the time their boys were old enough to join them on the course. Once Eric and Jason were old enough to fulfill the foursome, the Straubs spent their Sundays as a unit, doing what they loved the most, which was spending time with each other, playing golf, laughing, and competing for bragging rights.

We will miss our wife, mother, and friend very dearly. We express our sincere thanks to our local doctors for the compassionate and professional care they provided over the past several months.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday evening from 3-7pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.

Contributions in memory of Kris may be made to cholangiocarcinoma.org, American Cancer Society, or Lourdes Hospice.
