Mr. Gerald Lee Edwards, age 57, of Benton, KY died on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Stone Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Paducah, KY. Born Tuesday, April 25, 1961 in Murray, KY, he was a painter for Rail Services in Calvert City and was a member of Hardin Baptist Church.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his mother, Willie Irene (Collins) Edwards of Benton, KY; brothers, Carl J. Newton of Calvert City, KY and George Newton of Benton, KY, sisters, Judy McCleod of Benton, KY, Margaret McCleod of Princeton, KY and Kathy King of Benton, KY, 20 nieces and nephews, 35 great nieces and nephews and 9 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Newton and Charles Thomas Newton, sister, Irene Turner and his father Virgil Lee Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home with Rev. David Hamlett officiating. Burial will follow in Hiett Cemetery.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.
