Cecil Day, 81

Mr. Cecil Day, age 81, of Mayfield passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Mayfield, KY and Bible Baptist Church in Paducah, KY and a retired employee of Exchange Bank and Seay Auto Sales.  He was also a US Army veteran.  Cecil enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and spending time in a garden.  He was a loving father and grandfather (Popa C) and always had time to help whoever was in need.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Peggy Champion Day; one son, Todd (Liz) Day of Paducah, KY; one daughter, Lauri Day (Bob) Ezell of Paducah, KY; three grandchildren, Robin Ezell (Heath) Lemond, Connor Ezell and Reagan Day all of Paducah, KY; one great grandchild, Houston Lemond of Paducah, KY; and two sisters, Dorothy (Matt) Phillips of Chicago, IL and Louise (Don) Novack of Bitely, MI; several nieces and nephews including Kevin Day and Kathy Day Keenan.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Day, Jr. and Alvin Day; three sisters, Ola Thorpe, Allene Rhine and Edna Marzano; and his parents, John, Sr. and Willie Hester (Cope)  Day.

Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Day will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Keith Allred will officiate.  Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Joe Seay, Kevin Day, Chris Champion, Jerry Bennett, Tyler Champion and Connor Ezell.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the funeral home.
