Marshall County Sheriff’s Announces The Hire Of Additional School Resource Officers

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce having hired 4 additional School Resource Officers for the upcoming school year. These officers will be at the Marshall County High School, North Marshall Middle, and South Marshall Middle. These officers will also be spending time at all of the Elementary Schools . They will be supervised by Sergeant Ray Chumbler who has been the MCHS SRO for many years.

Deputy JT Coleman
Deputy Coleman has two kids Amber 23 and Andrew 17. He has been very active in BSA troop1 Paducah, He is a member of FOP. His family attends church at Zion’s Cause Baptist Church.
Deputy Coleman has been a police officer for 28 years and retired as a Captain from McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Coleman is a DARE officer, certified crisis negotiator, certified EMT, and boat operator. Deputy Coleman has been serving recently as a Deputy in our Court Security Division. Deputy Coleman lives in northern Marshall County.

Deputy Carey S. Hendley
Deputy Hendley is 59 years old and has served in law enforcement for 37 years for several agencies including the Mayfield Police Department, Graves County Sheriff’s Office, and Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force. He was born and raised in Mayfield, KY and graduated from Mayfield High School. He attended College in Springfield, MO. He has a passion for sports and has officiated both Football and Basketball. He has officiated Footballs games at every level from elementary school to the NFL. He has been married for 37 years to his wife Tancey with two daughters, a son in law, and three grandchildren.

Deputy Jason Young
Jason Young is a 24-year-police veteran who has lived in Marshall County for 22 of those years. He is a 1994 graduate of the Kentucky State Police Academy. After retiring from KSP with more than 20 years of service, Young began work at CFSB. Two years later, his longing for police work led him to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office where he was sworn in as a deputy in October 2016. Young worked in the Lyon County School District as a resource officer until accepting a similar position in Marshall County this July. Young has been a decorated law enforcement officer and holds certifications from the National Highway Safety Administration, the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators and Glock Armor. Young volunteers on the board of directors for Hope Clinic in Benton. He has been married to his wife, Stacey, for nearly 23 year and they have one son, Taylor, who is a 2017 graduate of Marshall County High School and the Gatton Academy of Math and Science who now attends the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville.

Deputy Stephen M. Robinson

Deputy Robinson is is 50 years old and comes to us from the Benton Police Department where he has served for three years. Priot to Benton PD, Robnson served 2 years with the Murray State University Police and retired after 20 years of service at the Murray Police Department as a Captain. Deputy Robinson is a graduate of Murray High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Deputy Robinson is a trained Accident Reconstructionist, Trained Police Sniper, and he is a graduate of the Advanced Canine Academy, the Academy of Police Supervision, and The Criminal Justice Executive Development Programs.
