On July 23rd, Deputy Barry Howell investigated a burglary on Aurora Highway. According to his report, Ronnie M. Shearer of Hardin reported a theft of a large amount of fishing and hunting equipment. On July 24th Deputy Dennis Lewis and Sergeant Tim Reynolds responded to a crash on Wesley Drive. As a result of the investigation of the crash the driver, Charles C. Oxx of Mayfield, KY was arrested and charged by Deputy Lewis with the Following: Operating a Motor Vehicle U/ Influence Alc/Drugs/Etc .08 Aggravating Circumstances 1st Offense, Failure of Non Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Leaving Scene of Accident, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree

On July 24th, Deputy Cory Curtner served an arrest warrant and criminal summons on a Morehead, KY man. Gary Hale of Morehead, KY was served a criminal summons for Theft By Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property over $500 out of Floyd County. He was served an arrest warrant out of Floyd County for Failure to Appear on charges of Failure to Wear Seat belts, No Registration Plates, No Registration Receipt, Reg and Title Requirements Veh Not Oper on Highway, Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License, Failure To Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle, and Failure of Owner to Maintain Insurance.
On 07/24/2018 Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 641S and Main St. in Benton Ky. reference injury vehicle accident. Upon arrival , the driver of the first vehicle Cristobal Granados Rodriguez of Lilburn, GA stated he was traveling NB on US Hwy 641. Rodriguez advised as he approached the traffic lights on 641 and Main St. the light turned yellow. Rodriguez advised as he passed through the yellow light a vehicle driven by Corbet J. Hall of Murray drove out in front of him from Ma…in St. Rodriguez advised he tried to swerve to miss Hall but stated he struck Hall in the side of the vehicle. Hall was transported to the Marshall County E.R. to be stabilized so he could be flown out by Air Evac to Vanderbilt in Nashville Tn. Marshall County Hospital called to advise Hall had succumbed to injuries before being air lifted to Vanderbilt.
Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement arrived on scene for vehicle inspection on the Rodriguez vehicle which was a commercial vehicle / truck. . Accident reconstruction by Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstructionist Detective Nathan Maxlow is pending. The crash was investigated by Deputy Barry Howell. Sergeant Tim Reynolds, Sergeant Jason Lane, Deputy Cory Curtner, and Officer Stephen Robinson from Benton Police responded to assist. Marshall County EMS, South Marshall Fire Department, and the Marshall County Coroners Office responded and assisted in the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
