Mrs. Joan Hicks Smith, age 87 of Calvert City, KY died on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Oakview Nursing & Rehab Center in Calvert City, KY. She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter, and had a love of sewing. She was retired from Bellsouth where she worked in repair services, but the job she
loved most was taking care of her family
Born Saturday, November 22, 1930 in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of the late James Kino Hicks and the late Ora Lee (Bradberry) Hicks.
Surviving are her son, Mark Stanley Smith of Calvert City, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter B. Smith, infant brother, James Clifton Hicks, brothers, Joseph Daniel Hicks, John Vernon Hicks and Jerome Lee “Hoppy” Hicks, and sisters, Sarah Ruth Hicks Padgett, Jean Hicks Cain, and Mary Naomi Hicks McDaniel.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Bill Amberg officiating.
Interment will follow in Wadesboro Cemetery, Hardin, KY.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
