Letha C. Goins Sickling, 81

Letha C. Goins Sickling, 81, of Calvert City, KY died on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at home following an extended illness. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Calvert City.

Letha was born on June 16, 1937 in Grand Chain, IL. She was the daughter of Andy and Susie (Thrasher) Goins and grew up in Karnak, IL.

Letha is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Oral Sickling of Calvert City, KY; a daughter, Teresa Cherry (Kevin) of Dexter, KY; two sons, Mark Sickling (Kristin) of Gilbertsville, KY, Matthew Sickling (Mary Anne) of Beaver Dam, KY; Seven grandchildren, Devin Cherry (Owenton, KY), Sarah Beth Sickling (Raleigh, NC), Tasha (Zach) Engel (Mt. Washington, KY), Leigh Ann (Ashley) McElveen (Russellville, KY), Brandon (Taylor) Sickling (Louisville, KY), Lora and Leslie Sickling of Beaver Dam, KY; two great-grandchildren, Ginny and Molly Engel; siblings Kathryn Goins Sickling (Dongola, IL) and Manul (Shirley) Goins of Goreville, IL; several nieces and nephews and her church family at First Baptist Church Calvert City, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Wally Goins.

Letha loved being outdoors, gardening, bird watching, hunting and fishing. She was a wonderful cook and was famous for her peanut brittle, donuts and rhubarb pie. She leaves a legacy of love and service. She taught children in Sunday School from the time she was 16 years old until well into her sixties, sang in the church choir and served on various committees at church until she became ill.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Calvert City, Calvert City, KY. Rev. Dr. Jim Ewing and Rev. Rick Johnson will officiate.

Interment will follow the service in the Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.

Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Calvert City, 85 Ash St., Calvert City, KY 42029.
