Mr. 
of Calvert City, KY died on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his home. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Calvert City. Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer for Pennwalt, and was a veteran of the US Army.
Mr. Thomas was a life member of the Lions Club, was a board member of Calvert City Convalescent Center, and was honored by the Calvert City Library with a meeting room in his name, the L.H. Thomas Meeting Room. He refereed high school football for 34 years, coached Little League, and was an avid UK Wildcat fan.
Born Thursday, November 8, 1928 in Orlando, FL, he was the son of the late Laurie Jean Thomas and the late Ruby Earl (Butler) Thomas.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty (Chollett) Thomas of Calvert City, KY, son, David Earl Thomas, wife Tammy of Whitwell, TN, daughters, Laurie Lynn Varnadoe, husband Marty of Juliette, GA and Martha Hardin, husband Jody of Calvert City, KY; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruby Earl Bulloch and Elizabeth Cosper.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Lynn Jones and Rev. Adele Ambler officiating.
Interment will follow in Calvert City Cemetery, Calvert City, KY.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
