The middle school regional tournament was held at Murray High last week. The SMMS girls team and the boys Marshall Blue team won their first round games to advance to the championship.
South Marshall Middle girls team defeated St. Mary after a 1-1 tie at end of regulation. Two overtime periods later and a Golden Goal rule, they were still knotted up and went to penalty kicks where the SMMS girls took the win 4-3 to advance to the championship game against Graves County.
South Marshall Middle girls defeated Graves County 2-0 to win the regional championship. The Marshall Blue boy’s team finished region runner-up in a 3-2 loss to Murray.
