Handing them just their third loss of the season Friday, the Lady Marshals defeated #7 Madisonville-North Hopkins 9-4 on 16 hits. They stunned the Lady Maroons by scoring six runs in their first at-bat that began on singles by Sarenna Tomassi and Charley Pursley leading off, brought in on a 3-run home run by Gracey Murt.
Singles by the next two up for the Lady Marshals – Addie Young and Cayson Conner, was followed by Presley Jezik reaching on an error to load the bases. Zoie Swoope kept the batting streak going by hitting a 2-run single that scored Conner and Jezik with Edwards making it a 6-0 game, scoring on a wild pitch.
Madisonville scored a run in the bottom of the second on a steal of home by Jayda Perkins before the Lady Marshals added their next three runs in the top of the third on a 2-run home run by Edwards and single by Pursley.
The Lady Maroons scored three more runs in the third inning on a single by McKayla Spurlin and two in the fourth on a single by Courtney Peyton and double from Lindsey Peyton.
Aubree Jo Kemp earned the win in seven innings on the mound, allowing 10 hits, four runs and struck out two. Acacia Gray allowed all nine Lady Marshals runs in just over two innings on the mound for Madisonville.
In games this week the Lady Marshals will play Graves County today (Monday) at home, Goreville, IL Tuesday at John A Logan College, Carlisle County at home on Thursday before heading to Bowling Green Saturday for the Best of the West Tournament.
