
William “Bill” George Roy, Sr., 90 of Sevierville, Tennessee passed away Thursday April 19, 2018.
Bill was a graduate of the Wayne State Business College in Detroit and proudly served his country as a Seabee with the United States Navy. He happily retired to Sevierville many years ago from Milford, Michigan and was a locally well known home builder. He also owned and operated the William G. Roy Tool and Die Company in Detroit, Michigan. He was active in many local and civic organizations. Bill always made himself available to help others. He enjoyed raising and showing Arabian horses, obtaining his private pilot’s license, and was an avid golfer. Bill’s greatest joy was spending his weekends boating with friends and family at the Mountain Cove Marina on Douglas Lake.
He was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” George Roy, Jr.; parents, George E. and Norma Roy; brother, Grant Roy; sisters, Delores Adkisson and Jacqueline Lofquist.
He is survived by his wife Sally Roy; son Brian Roy and wife Kennita; grandchildren Joanna Colson and Becky Brewer; great-grandchildren Trace Colson, Tera Colson, Kenlee Brewer and Ellee Brewer; step-granddaughter Leslie Sutter Hall; and sister Marilyn Snyder.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday with funeral service to follow at noon in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville with Rev. Wayne Cook officiating.
