MSU welcomes author Dean

Murray State University’s department of English and philosophy will welcome author Margaret Lazarus Dean to campus Thursday, April 5, as part of the 2017–18 Reading Series. Dean will give a reading at 7:30 p.m. in the Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery that is free and open to the public. A book-signing and reception will follow.

Dean is the author of the novel “The Time It Takes to Fall,” which is set near Cape Canaveral and follows a fictional NASA family through the aftermath of the Challenger disaster. Dean is also the author of the nonfiction work “Leaving Orbit: Notes from the Last Days of American Spaceflight,” which documents the final year of the space shuttle program. She is recipient of the Hopwood Award for the Novel, a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship, a Tennessee Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship and the John C. Hodges Teaching Award for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she currently serves as an associate professor of English and director of creative writing.
