In an effort to raise funds for the continued recovery of Puerto Rico, the Reidland Church of Christ has produced a fun and over-the-top lip dub video for social media. The lip dub is a mashup of ten current and past Christian music hits center on the themes of missions and love for others. The church members lip-sync to the music while dancing and celebrating. The Reidland church is sending a mission team of 28 people to Arecibo, Puerto Rico in July of 2018. The team will do recovery work under the direction of a local church. The total cost of the trip is over $23,000, the church has raised over half already and hopes to raise the remaining $10,000 by pushing traffic to their crowdfunding website, www.youcaring.org/PR2018.

The Associate Minister, Brian Brophy and his wife visited Puerto Rico to plan for the trip just two months before Hurricane Maria hit in 2017.

“Puerto Rico is a beautiful and amazing place,” Brophy said. “Even before the hurricane there was a huge need for mission teams to come work, but after the hurricane the need became multiplied tenfold.” Hurricane Maria caused damages that are estimated to cost over $100 Billion in recovery costs. The church hopes to raise more than the cost of the trip so that they can use the additional funds for ongoing recovery efforts through the local churches and agencies in Puerto Rico.

The Reidland Church of Christ is a church of around 250 people located on the east end of Paducah. Over 100 people of all ages from the church participated in the filming of the video. The amazingly steady shots were filmed by church members on a single DJI Osmo with Z-axis, with one drone shot added at the end from a Parrot Bebop. The video will go live on the Reidland Church of Christ Facebook page on Monday, March 26th at 7 a.m.
