We have been notified by complaints coming in to the Sheriff’s Office about folks calling those in our community trying to sell items ” for the kids from the school.” PLEASE do your homework prior to giving money to ANY charity. The calls in this particular situation were from an 866 number and the caller was a woman with a ” arabian ” accent. Do not give money to ANYONE without doing your research and making sure where the money is going and who is asking for it.
On February 12, Sergeant Jason Lane served bench warrants for Calloway District Court by arresting Troy D. Haley of Smithland.
On February 11th at 8:10pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield stopped a motor vehicle on Gilbertsville Highway. as a result of the investigation, Christy Renee Melton of Princeton was arrested and charged with the following:

One Headlight
Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense ( Methamphetamine )
Possession of Marijuana
Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Possess
Operating Motor Vehicle U/ Influence Alc / Drugs / Etc .08 1st Offense
Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle

On February 10th, Deputy Dennis Lewis arrested Gregory A. Sutton of Paducah on a bench warrant out of Marshall District Court.
Deputy Chris Greenfield arrested Marshall Louis Scott Dowdy of Benton on a Lyon County warrant for Contempt of Court.
On February 11th, Deputy Chris Glenn arrested Kyle T. Gilbert of Calvert City on a Flagrant Non Support warrant.
