Lady Marshals wrap up regular season with win over Madisonville

Lorin Powell in the Lady Marshals game Monday against Graves County, scored seven points in the win over Madisonville North Hopkins.

In their final game of the regular season, the Lady Marshals wrapped things up with a 49-34 win over Madisonville North Hopkins to improve to 15-13. They will meet Calloway County on Monday at Murray to play for a trip to the Region I Tournament and a meeting with #1 seed Murray High in the 4th District Championship game.

Madisonville led 4-0 early, tied up by the Lady Marshals on baskets by Kinley Edwards and Lorin Powell with a go-ahead basket by Cayson Conner and they never trailed again, leading 12-4 at the end of the first quarter.

The first basket of the second quarter came over three minutes in by Halle Langhi for a 14-4 lead. Consecutive 3-pointers from Layne Pea and Conner put the Lady Marshals up 20-6, going on to lead 27-9 at halftime.

Tera Colson opened the second half with a 3-pointer for a 30-9 lead, but from there were out-scored by the Lady Maroons 12-5 before a basket at the buzzer by Gabbi Lovett finished the third quarter on a 37-21 lead. Lovett and Powell baskets to start the fourth quarter put the Lady Marshals up by 20 points on their way to a 15 point win.
